The whole experience felt like a total waste of time. The only neat event was hearing the thousands of frogs all around us on the way back to our car.
There were some "aficionados" with telescopes and their scopes had almost as good image quality as the big main telescope, however the whole experience is nice for a first timer.
My family and I enjoyed this experience thoroughly. There were many educational speakers outside giving descriptions of constellations and many individuals willing to let you view stars or planets through their telescopes. Everyone was very kind. It was so fun for the whole family. We are attending again for spring break!
This place is great for every age. It has things to do, from Mission Control to exploring the universe. And the people are so friendly and helpful. And you are surrounded with nature in the Brazos Bend State Park
I LOVE this place! Brazos Park and the George Observatory are the two location I love to go! They have 3 domes which it's $7 per person, I believe kids too, and they have volunteers that bring their own telescopes. There are times where they have astronomy lessons which am instructor will point at the night sky and give a lesson and ask questions to the public. A word of advice don't use flashlights or the brightness of your cellphone nor bring shoes that light up on each step you take. Since that becomes troublesome, you're in a dark area so your eyes adjust to the darkness. We are fortunate to have an amazing place like this. Another thing when you purchase a ticket for the dome usage you will not get you money back so be wise on your purchase.
Disappointing. Went on a members only evening. Waited for 45 min at first, small, telescope only to realize that all of a sudden the line is not moving. No one ever gave us an explanation. Finally saw Jupiter and three moons from that telescope. Big telescope line was way long. We did not even bother. Went to the other small telescope, waited in line again. No one ever said "hey guess what?! You will see Jupiter and three moons."
