I have only been working at Fulshear for a few months now, but from the moment I set foot on the ranch for my first interview I have been welcomed by such incredibly positive people! The staff is highly trained and truly cares about the clients that they serve. The team works together and with the student's input to move through the treatment phases and transition into being self-sufficient young adults capable of making it on their own. Fulshear is very pro-education and encourages the young women to work on completing high school and higher education while also teaching them life skills and how to have healthy relationships with others.

But first you gotta let strangers help you.

ME.

I just wanted to write a little blurb about my experience at Fulshear.

This is a good program, but when looking for a treatment facility, its sort of like looking for an apartment. Difficult to find the right one for the right price. This program was a great fit for me, therapeutic wise and emotionally a secure place. As far as for someone who is looking for a therapeutic residential program, I would definitely say that this is a go to for me. I would like to say thank you to all the wonderful people, staff, therapists, horses, Oliver and Dorothy and Dog, for helping me get through the hardest year of my life.

Excellent staff. They truly care about their clients and work around the clock to help their clients.

Was eating at an Applebee's and saw a Fulshear staff stand by smiling Right next to our table while one of the clients berated the other girl until she was in tears. She started smiling like she enjoyed the girls torment. It was truly uncalled for, we felt so bad and it raises serious questions about management there. I caught the staff member's name who allowed that horrendous emotional incident happen: STAY AWAY FROM MARCY

They loved me, and thus reminded me how to love myself.

Fulshear treated me. As a whole person. Haley. Not my symptoms or my defensive persona.

ME.

I was talking about one of the hundreds of articles regarding eating disorders, but this was the difference.

-Haley

I was sick, for a lot of reasons. I had lots of symptoms of lots of different diseases. I had sought treatment for many years, in all different settings, in all different types of places. I couldn't figure out what was better about Fulshear than any of those other places, but then I said this to someone:

It will be uncomfortable and scary. It'll be exhilarating and heartbreaking. You'll learn crap about yourself you wish wasn't truth! But if you take what you learn and take accountability for yourself, you can feel better.

I'm not perfect, and Fulshear wasn't this revelation where I rose from the ashes of my pain. But they helped put me on a path to finding myself, and to discover that path didn't matter...all that mattered??

"I think this article does a good job of explaining that the symptom of anorexia/bulimia/binge eating is just that. A symptom. With underlying causes and reasons. I believe the mental health system as a whole is flawed in believing treating symptoms will cure the disease(s). Treating the whole person, and getting to the reason behind the symptoms, the core issue, is the only way to dismantle all symptoms. I believe it is the only way to create a whole person again."
